NAT MAKS is Natascha Maksimovic,
a QEST Scholar and marbling artist known for her masterful use of colour and innovation. Maksimovic has built a reputation for immersive colourways that define her unique marbling style - striking in presence yet deeply harmonious. Maksimovic's work is inspired by the Japanese art form of ‘Suminagashi’ marbling. Blurring the boundaries between craft and art, she pushes the technique into new territory, creating bold, expansive works that fuse heritage with modernity.
Born in Germany and now based in Margate, Maksimovic graduated from Camberwell College of Arts to work under the visionary direction of Sir Ridley Scott. This experience instilled in her a deep appreciation for the power of image-making, world-building, and collaborative storytelling, all of which continue to inform her approach to marbling as a time-based, immersive process.
Her distinctive marbling style has led to award-winning designs, including Best Wallpaper at the Homes & Gardens Awards 2024, and was awarded the prestigious QEST scholarship grant to develop sustainable botanical inks.
Her work has been exhibited internationally including Ruthin Craft Centre, Wales; FRIEZE No.9 Cork Street, London; Ruup & Form, London and featured in publications including House & Garden, ELLE Decoration, The World of Interiors, Wallpaper* and the Financial Times. Alongside her studio practice, she collaborates across disciplines, creating site-specific works and commissions that deepen the relationship between material, environment, and audience.
Recent collaborations include Sebastian Cox, Maison Cacao Japan, Molton Brown, Knots Rugs, and Decorex London.
